GN F-1 #527

Great Northern ordered its first consolidation from Brooks Locomotive works in 1892. The 66 engines in what would later become the F-1 class, numbers 500-565, had the then standard 55" drivers, 180 pounds boiler pressure and a tractive effort of 23,210 pounds. Most were sold or scrapped in the 20's but several lasted till the 50's. Those survivors, were converted to burn oil and were assigned to the western divisions.

This custom painted Sunset model has lots of nice detail and backhead. It has a can motor runs well with a slight hitch. The tender is correct for an F-1 but is not the one imported with the model. It came off a Westside H-4. The 'coal' in the tender is a a bit of foam that is not glued down. I purchased this engine new and it has had limited running.  It has medium weathering, ready for DCC and light freight work on any pike.

Original box and foam.
